genre: horror, this will be a good starting point because there are many ways to present the genre by playing around with conventions of the genre. Also my favourite type of opening is a discrete opening and horror is a genre that makes good use of this type of opening. the opening to scream will be used for inspiration, as i want the opening to follow a similar structure in that the opening will have a beginning middle and end that leads into the main film but still stands alone.
initial ideas: the opening will follow a reporter going through an abandoned warehouse, that is said to be haunted, things will gradually become more and more bizarre, until the end when the warehouse is revealed to be truly haunted. the fate of the reporter will be left up in the air and the opening will end with the film title.
